Florida Medical Marijuana Amendment Passes: This amendment allows medical use of marijuana for individuals with debilitating medical conditions as determined by a licensed Florida physician.

Now, the Legislature must determine the rules on how this process will work. The Florida Department of Health, Office of Compassionate Use will then regulate and license distributors and qualified doctors. They will probably issue identification cards to patients and their caregivers. Parental consent will be required for use by minors. It is anticipated that the full strength medical cannabis will be available to newly qualified patients by July 1, 2017.
