Environmental Caucus – South County Meeting – Special Guest, Joseph Bonasia


Topic: Carbon fees and dividends programs for effective climate action.

Joseph Bonasia is an environmental educator and speaker who brings to his presentations over 30 years of teaching experience. He is the Outreach/Education Director for Clean Water Now and Citizens’ Climate Lobby of Fort Myers. He is also a Community Coordinator for the Pachamama Alliance, an organization long involved in the Rights of Nature Movement. As a member of the Sierra Club Calusa Group, he recently organized the first electric vehicle showcase at Edison and Ford Winter Estates for National Drive Electric Week. Topic: 75% of SW Floridians now accept the reality of human-caused climate change and want their governments to take effective action. On behalf of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, I will be speaking about a carbon fee and dividend program such as four former Chairs of the Federal Reserve and 27 Nobel Prize winning American economists emphatically endorsed, stating, “A carbon tax offers the most cost-effective lever to reduce carbon emissions at the scale and speed that is necessary.”

Usually, monthly meetings are usually held on the 1st Tuesday at the North County Library at 6PM,  2nd Monday at the Democratic HQ at 6:30 and 4th Tuesday at the South County Sarasota Democratic Party HQ’s at 6:30PM in North Port.  Please check each event on the website or on your emails to confirm date, time and location.
