Cathy Antunes is host of “The Detail”, a radio show about local politics, on WSLR 96.5 fm. She blogs on local political issues, writes a monthly column for SRQ Daily, and her guest columns have appeared in numerous newspapers. Cathy has served on a number of local boards including the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA). She recently organized the community effort to Save Lido Pavilion. Cathy earned a BA in history with a concentration in economics at the University of Virginia. She was Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) test prep instructor and a realtor in the state of Virginia before embarking on a 20 year executive sales career spanning three Fortune 500 companies. Her sales results were consistently among the top in her region and the nation, winning her multiple regional and national awards, and assignments as a national brand advisor. She holds a masters degree in theology. Born in New York City and raised in Westchester County, Cathy’s education and time as a military spouse provided the opportunity to reside in numerous US cities, which sparked her interest in local politics. Her past domiciles include Manhattan, Charlottesville, VA, Kailua, HI, San Antonio, TX, Summit, NJ, Newport News, VA, Garrett Park, MD, and Pittsburgh, PA before finally settling in Sarasota, FL, where she has now resided for 20 years. Cathy is married to Jose Antunes and two sons, two stepsons and one stepdaughter.
