As much of Biden’s plan winds its way through Congress —through the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the budget reconciliation process — it appears increasingly that we in Sarasota will see billion-dollar opportunities to reshape transportation, our water and sewage systems, the way we generate and consume electricity, and the way we get Internet access. It’s time to plan and advocate!
Johannes Werner grew up in Freiburg, Germany’s solar capital. Freiburg went through an energy transition as early as the 1990s and is on track to be 100% renewable soon. A resident of Sarasota since 1996, Werner is one of the initiators of the Suncoast Clean Jobs Alliance and an active member of the Sarasota County Democratic Party.
