Join our monthly Luncheon meeting on Tuesday, April 5th at 11:30 am, with Special Guest speakers: Gubernatorial Candidate ANNETTE TADEO and KEITH FITZGERALD on ” Democracy in America.” Meet State Senator Taddeo and learn from Dr. Fitzgerald how traditional American values endure and provide a common jumping-off point for preserving democracy.
ANNETTE TADDEO, Florida State Senator, introduces herself and tells us why she is running for the Democratic nomination for Governor. A successful small business owner and working mother of a child in the public schools, Senator Taddeo flipped the 40th district (located in Miami-Dade County) from red to blue in 2018, becoming the first Latina Democrat to serve in the Florida Senate. She was Charlie Crist’s running mate when she ran for Lieutenant Governor in 2014.
KEITH FITZGERALD is a former two-term Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives and currently Associate Professor of Political Science at New College of Florida. He will explore what has gone wrong with American democracy and what the Democratic Party must do to save it. Learn about positive movements and the emergence of exciting new candidates, as Dr. Fitzgerald shares his structural belief in shared “traditional American values” that endure and can provide a common jumping-off point for rebuilding trust.
