Mochael McGrath will be the special gueat speaker. Michael’s presentation will focus on the statewide development threat of M-CORES and the grassroots efforts of the No Roads to Ruin Coalition to oppose these terrible toll roads and stop them in their tracks. During the presentation he will provide an overview of what M-CORES is, the potential environmental and land use impacts, and the economic and fiscal costs to Florida residents and taxpayers. We will also discuss opportunities to organize against these ‘roads to ruin’ with related activities, actions, and resources that concerned citizens can engage the No Roads to Ruin Coalition on.
Michael McGrath represents the Florida Chapter of the Sierra Club as an organizer for the Chapter’s Red Tide and Wildlands campaigns that address nutrient pollution, improve water quality and protect critical habitats across the South Florida region. He brings a background in movement and political organizing having worked for a regional land trust on conservation projects and on a variety of campaigns and community efforts that address issues such as immigration, criminal justice, food justice and regenerative agriculture.
