Our special guest speaker, Herman Younger (he/him/his) was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and emigrated to Miami, Florida at the age of six. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in political science and race and moral philosophy. He has a background in federal election campaigns, labor unions, and civil rights activism. Herman is the Organizing Representative for the Red Tide and Wildlands Campaign based in Gainesville, Florida, on the occupied land of the Timucua tribe. Herman is on the Equity, Inclusion, Justice Committee of the Florida Chapter and leads the monthly National Sierra Club Black, Indigenous, Person of Color staff meetings. Being a queer immigrant, Herman has a deep passion and understanding of anti racist work and hopes to use this knowledge to center our organization in race-equity.
During the meeting, Herman will be creating a inclusive and open environment to discuss topics related to Equity, Inclusion, and Justice, and to answer any questions that can support the Group in furthering our anti racist grassroots power building.
