Space plant biology is the NASA KSC (Kennedy Space Center) science of growing veggies in space on the ISS (International Space Station) in preparation for long range space flights to other planets. Growing food efficiently in space has applications for improvement in agriculture on Earth, another NASA spin-off.
He is also the founder of an Environmentally Sustainable Agricultural technology company which has twice been recognized in 2005 and again in 2008 for its technology solutions and environmental leadership with the Gulf Guardian Award from a program administered by the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
As well, Ed’s Student, Teacher and Community Educational Outreach program is a Certified Space Education program which educates students around the country and the world about the NASA Veggie Space Plant Biology program.
As a further introduction, we cannot separate Ed Rosenthal and his corporate citizenship achievements. Ed has received 13 major awards for ethical business practices, product innovation, job creation and environmental leadership; one of the few Individuals in the country with such a vast array of recognition over 35 years.
In 2017, Ed Rosenthal was inducted with NASA KSC into the Space Foundation’s Space Technology Hall of Fame® for his technology innovation to successfully grow vegetables in space.
