Florida-licensed attorney for about twenty years, Jeanne has spent about half of that time practicing environmental law with an emphasis on environmental justice for communities that are disproportionately impacted by pollution and disease. The other half of her time has been spent as a full-time law professor.
Jeanne has published several articles on environmental justice and professional responsibility in law reviews as well as scientific and medical journals. She has presented on these issues at many conferences. Her work has taken her to state and federal courts, the Florida Legislature, Congress, and other state and federal administrative tribunals.
Jeanne began her legal practice with a prestigious Equal Justice Works fellowship to serve two Florida environmental justice communities. Further, in the first decade of her practice, Jeanne worked on several groundbreaking solutions for communities facing environmental injustice; many which were the subject of media and addressed in a few books. Her one and only jury trial resulted in a $3,000,000 verdict for a community-based organization in an affected community.
