Join us on March 8th at 7 pm for our featured speaker, Dr. Richard Whitman, who is an internationally recognized expert in beach and shoreline ecology with many publications. His contributions include descriptions of new species, identification of neoarctic invasives, the discovery of novel non-enteric sources of indicator bacteria, and the development of modeling paradigms for recreational water quality. Dr. Whitman continues to contribute and promote beach and nearshore science especially within the context of large-scale changes in our environment. In 1993, he transferred to the United States Geological Survey where he led a team of about 20 ecologists at the Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station. He retired in 2013 and now resides in Charlotte County.
