Agriculture in Sarasota and the last open spaces in our county are at stake! Developers “Paving Pat” Neal and SMR Communities want to build thousands of luxury homes on 4,000 acres of farmland in the east county. To maximize their profit they are asking the County Commissioners to change a comprehensive plan that was carefully crafted two decades ago. Everyone should sign a speaker’s card before going into the commission chambers. Even if you don’t plan to speak, sign a speaker’s card and check the “opposed” box, to get that on the record. TELL THEM TO SAY “NO” !
THE HEARING BEGINS AT 9 am. and the item is No. 2 on the agenda, which should begin shortly after 9 am . BUT BE PREPARED for agenda changes on short notice.

- FILL OUT A SPEAKER’S CARD TO REGISTER YOUR OPPOSITION: in the circle at the top right corner with the words “item #”, write “A 2”. On the fourth line down under “item # or topic”, write “2, CPA 2022-B”. Then write “I OPPOSE” and give it to the clerk on the right side of the dais.
- PLEASE REFRAIN from applauding or hollering; the chairperson is known for stopping meetings.
- LOOK FOR THE PROTEST outside the building, facing Ringling Boulevard. If you choose to join the protest, please bring your own signs, although some signs will be provided, as available.
