September North Port Environmental Issues Meeting – DATE/LOCATION Change

RSVP – CLICK HERE

Jim Eachus is a retired software developer with a Ph.D. in theoretical physics. He and his wife, Ann, owned a software business for 25 years, with customers as diverse as the US Navy Base in Key West and Trident Seafoods in Akutan, Alaska. Jim’s concern about climate change was first sparked twenty years ago by reports in Alaska of melting permafrost. After retiring in Seattle, they spent winters in Sarasota until they became permanent Sarasota residents last fall.

Presentation:

Pioneers of Climate Science – Puzzles and Solutions.

Jim Eachus will relate the history of climate science through stories from the lives of scientists, from Benjamin Franklin to Jennifer Francis.

Come and hear an entertaining talk about the basics of climate science through stories from the lives of scientists, from Benjamin Franklin to Jennifer Francis. Who was the first radical leftist to contribute to climate science? How did the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand lead to an important climate discovery? How did the Gulf Stream get its name?

Jim Eachus will show slides, tell stories, and shed some light on a vital issue.

If you are new to climate science, this is a fun way to get started. If you already know it all, just come and be entertained.

Discussion follows. All points of view welcome!
