CALLING ALL SUPPORTERS ! WEAR RED FOR ED and JOIN US ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13 at the School Board – 1960 LANDINGS BLVD. Show up, stand up and let your voice be heard!
WE WILL RALLY FOR TRANSPARENCY @ 5:00 PM
and ATTEND THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING @ 6:00 pm
The citizens of Sarasota County demand accountability, transparency, and professionalism. The only way that we can be assured that our children receive the best education possible, is to stand up and demand that this board listen to us!
It’s not over yet, folks! The school board has lost the faith and trust of our community. The new board members campaigned on a platform to remove politics from the school board, but instead they
are using our children as political pawns.

What does the community want?
- They want to retain Dr. Asplen.
- If the board proceeds to fire Dr. Asplen, the community must be involved in the process of choosing an interim superintendent.
- An independent committee must be formed to aid in the recruitment and selection process for a permanent superintendent and this committee must include parents, students and other community members.
Who will the board fire next? What programs or non-profit contributions will they curtail?
Who’s next? Your child’s principal or favorite teacher? Will politics play a part in determining which programs and non-profits will be permitted in our schools?
What about fiscal responsibility? This board wants to spend $170,000 to fire Dr. Asplen, plus legal fees for their counsel. Add the cost of a nationwide search for a new superintendent of up to $250,000, for a potential total cost of over $400,000. All to fire a superintendent rated highly effective less than six weeks ago. How is that fiscally responsible?
