“Florida’s rising seas and water wars – Where things stand”, with Special Guest Speaker, ROSEMARY O’HARA
Rosemary O’Hara is the editor of The Invading Sea, a collaboration of 26 Florida newspaper editorial boards focused on the threats posed by the warming climate. Before retiring last year, Rosemary was the editorial page editor of the South Florida Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, a position she held for eight years. Previously, she was editorial page editor of the Tampa Tribune. Over the course of her 44-year career in journalism, Rosemary also worked at newspapers in Cincinnati, Norfolk, Orlando and Washington, D.C.
Rosemary has served on several state and national journalism boards. She has regularly appeared on television and radio roundtable shows. She has been inducted into the University of Florida College of Journalism’s Hall of Fame. And she was twice named by Influence Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in Florida politics. In 2019, Rosemary was a member of the Sun Sentinel team that won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for its coverage of the many government breakdowns in and around the shooting rampage at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. Rosemary now lives in Dunedin with her husband, Tom O’Hara, also a former newspaper editor.
