The Lakewood Ranch developers want to replace 4,000 acres of pasture land in the east county with up to 5,000 mansions behind gates (AKA sprawl). Residents at Old Miakka, one of Sarasota’s oldest continuous settlements, are trying to save their rural lifestyle, agriculture, and everyone’s open space.

Join the Activists with “Keep the Country Country” and County Commission candidate FREDD ATKINS. We will be wearing yellow and wave “Keep the Country” signs. We will also walk the market, handing out flyers and postcards to county commissioners, and sign up people to the “Keep the Country” email list.
