We have been sending letters and emails.

We have been writing letters to the editor.

We have been making phone calls.

We have taken to the streets.

We have been resisting with our wallets.

In all these ways, we have been having an impact.

And, now this past Tuesday, we showed our ultimate power - the vote!

We didn't just squeak by - we had wins by tremendous margins!

These wins were from state governorships to city councils, from state supreme court justices to knocking down a voter suppression law to voting for off-year redistricting for needed retaliation!

Take a breath. Pat yourself on the back and know that your voice matters. But stay engaged. We need our motivation and enthusiasm to continue until November 2026.

From now until the 2026 mid-terms, activism is our only power. We hope you'll continue to use it!

In the following sections are ways in which you can resist with your wallet. Finally, there is information on a Manatee Democratic Party Symposium to start voter outreach activities for the mid-terms. It's not too soon to start engaging with voters.

Goods Unite Us

We encourage you to take advantage of this app and download it to your phone today or use their website on your computer, gooduniteus.com. You can then search for a company before purchasing to see if its financial support leans more towards the Democrats or the Republicans. The premium service also provides information to the company's stance on issues.

Being selective about where you do business is time consuming and takes some sacrifice. But if you truly want to make a difference between now and the next election, you need to be diligent and thoughtful about where your money is going. Otherwise, it’s going to end up in the GOP’s coffers.

T-Mobile Cellular

We have joined this boycott led by a coalition of groups including the Communications Workers of America, AFT, the AFL-CIO, #TeslaTakedown and Stop The Money Pipeline.

T-Mobile

  • is providing the network infrastructure that runs Trump’s corrupt Trump Mobile service

  • canceled their DEI programs to win Trump’s approval for multi-billion-dollar business deals

  • contracted with Elon Musk’s Starlink, helping fund his far-right extremism

  • lobbied for Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, helping strip healthcare and SNAP from millions of families

  • has spent decades viciously union busting against its own workers

The boycott calls for subscribers to move their service in a show of strength. You may request your phone number be retained when you change providers.

Publix Grocery Stores

In addition to being a large contributor to the Trump Administration and other MAGA-like candidates and legislators, Publix has publicly announced that it will allow open-carry firearms in their stores ... along with concealed weapons.

Maybe you are okay with this. But we believe it increases the danger to innocent shoppers. It's just plain scary! Many consumers also have chosen to write a letter to the manager of their favorite store to express their displeasure.

There are shopping alternatives. Stores that prohibit weapons, whether they be concealed or open are: Whole Foods, Winn-Dixie and Trader Joe's. You can call any store and ask the manager about their gun policy.

Spotify

If you are using this music streaming service, consider cancelling your subscription. Spotify is running ads recruiting agents for ICE, the federal agency charged with mass deportation and sureillance of immigrant communities. These ads target vulnerable populations, promise signing bonuses of $50,000, and normalize fear and and intimidation in our neighborhoods.

We hope you will refuse to fund the streaming of hate.
