Trump threatens Mail-In Ballots

Trump has declared that he will “lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS.”

For years, he has smeared vote by mail with false claims of “fraud,” not because it is unsafe -- it is secure and backed by decades of bipartisan use -- but because he wants fewer people to vote, and to have less faith in the legitimacy of elections themselves.
Now, he's escalated his attacks claiming he may do it by executive order at any time between now and the midterm elections.
At its heart, democracy is about expanding opportunities for people to vote. Autocracy, on the other hand, is about shutting people out of the process -- limiting their ability to participate and even undermining their belief that voting matters at all. That is exactly what Donald Trump is trying to do by promising to end voting by mail.
Here’s the deal: The president doesn’t have any jurisdiction over how people vote. The Constitution gives that right to each state. That means Governors are the most important line of defense against Trump’s attempts to ban it.

The truth is clear: mail-in voting strengthens democracy. It expands access for working people, seniors, voters with disabilities, and military service members overseas. It reduces intimidation at polling places and gives voters the chance to research their ballots at home before casting them.
That’s why 72% of states and the District of Columbia now offer vote by mail to all voters, regardless of party. It doesn’t advantage one side or the other -- the advantage goes to democracy itself.
Demand your governor take a stand: Either stand with democracy by protecting vote by mail, or side with Trump’s autocratic campaign to dismantle it.
Thank you for speaking up for democracy!
